Sauka-Spengler Lab

We study the organization of gene regulatory networks that drive developmental processes and how these networks are altered in disease.

Our Research Focus

Our research focuses on understanding the organization of gene regulatory networks that drive developmental processes and how these networks are altered in disease. A central goal is to elucidate the regulatory circuitry that governs early cell fate decisions, with a particular emphasis on vertebrate neural crest development and its potential applications in stem cell–based therapies.

Tatjana Sauka-Spengler, Ph.D., reflects on what brought her lab to the Stowers Institute and how its collaborative, curiosity-driven environment enables ambitious, interdisciplinary research.
