My fascination for gene regulation came from my undergraduate developmental biology course where the intricacy and dynamics of transcriptional regulation in early Drosophila embryogenesis astounded me. In the Piotrowski lab, my Master’s thesis aims to understand how and to what extent regulatory evolution forms a link between genotypes and phenotypes. I’m interested in understanding how evolution shapes regulatory elements by using the lateral line system of killifish and zebrafish as model systems.
