The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) announced today, April 18, 2024, that Investigator Paul Trainor, Ph.D., of the Stowers Institute for Medical Research has been elected to the 2023 class of Fellows. The 2023 AAAS Fellows class includes 502 scientists, engineers, and innovators spanning the 24 AAAS disciplines who are being recognized for their scientifically and socially distinguished achievements.

Paul was selected for his contributions to craniofacial developmental biology, particularly for discoveries of the cellular, genetic, and biochemical mechanisms regulating neural crest cells and craniofacial development, evolution, and disease. He joins Stowers Institute AAAS Fellows Scott Hawley, Ph.D., Robb Krumlauf, Ph.D., Linheng Li, Ph.D., and Alejandro Sánchez Alvarado, Ph.D.

Established in 1874, AAAS Fellows are a distinguished cadre of scientists, engineers, and innovators who have been acknowledged for their achievements across disciplines ranging from research, teaching, and technology, to administration in academia, industry, and government, to excellence in communicating and translating science to the public.

The new Fellows and the 150^th AAAS Fellows anniversary will be celebrated on September 21, 2024, in Washington, D.C., and featured in the AAAS News & Notes section of Science magazine in April 2024.
